Position Summary:
The Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (MIE) is seeking a Computer Support Specialist to provide support to a broad range of technology in the department. Responsibilities include supporting and troubleshooting all hardware and software issues and initiatives. This includes systems in the Capstone and Industrial Engineering Labs, faculty and staff productivity systems such as desktops and laptops, research laboratory computers (32 bit and, increasingly, 64 bit), and the systems on graduate student desktops. The position will communicate with both the College and University’s IS departments on an as needed basis regarding maintenance, installations and problem solving. In the Capstone space, support includes maintaining both the computer lab and the prototyping space, providing a clean and safe working environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology with a minimum of 2 years experience. Tier I/Tier II computer support in a networked Windows PC environment is required. Dell and Apple certifications are highly desirable. A very good knowledge of Windows XP and Windows 7 is necessary with experience with 64 bit systems a plus. Experience must include supporting HP printers in a networked environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated ability in providing excellent technical support and guidance.

MIE’s Capstone Program is a two semester technical design course for seniors.
