Behavioral Health Referral and Insurance Coordinator

This position facilitates the coordination of behavioral health services in order to meet the needs of our students. The process involves networking with community behavioral health clinicians and maintaining a reliable and vast referral database. The position also ensures that students have insurance coverage before scheduling and tracking referral appointments to the community behavioral health specialists. Follow up insurance related questions should be supported by this position. This position serves as a valuable bridge between our students, UHCS staff and the community behavioral health clinicians.
As well referrals and insurance, this position is part of the medical leave team and provides guidance to students who choose to take a medical leave of absence from the University.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred and a minimum of two years of related office experience, preferably in a university/college health center, or an applicable customer service setting.
Knowledge of Behavioral Health terminology
Professional, diplomatic, reliable, personable, and consistent customer service skills
Experience in using Windows-based personal computer workstation, sufficient to demonstrate proficiency in several computer-based applications after training. This includes Microsoft Excel, Microsoft word, EClinical Works (ECW), Interactive Client, and other software.
Ability to process phone and in person inquires in a fast paced, often stressful environment, while exhibiting strong communication skills, including listening, expression, and empathy.
Ability to provide clear, consistent and accurate detailed information regarding University Health and Counseling Services.
