Position Summary:

The School of Nursing in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications for two full-time senior level tenure-track or tenured faculty positions. Each position is an academic year, benefits-eligible position as a Full/Associate Professor in the School of Nursing commensurate with candidate’s qualifications. In addition to the teaching and service responsibilities for all faculty, this position includes developing a strong research agenda and maintaining a strong, funded program of research. The School of Nursing is building a research niche in the area of risk reduction.


Salary will be commensurate with education, training, and experience and includes an outstanding benefits package. The start date for either position is January or August, 2013.

Qualifications:

A graduate degree in nursing and earned doctoral degree in nursing or related field, eligible for RN licensure in Massachusetts, evidence of research and scholarship suitable for senior rank, an excellent record of teaching in nursing, and demonstrated experience and commitment to supporting a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment are required. Successful applicants will bring a strong program and history of funded research.

Additional Information:

The School of Nursing is one of three schools under the leadership of the newly appointed Dean of Bouvé College of Health Sciences, Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN. The School of Nursing has a diverse, full-time faculty of 32, and offers a broad array of educational opportunities to students from bachelor’s through PhD programs with a wide range of specializations. In addition to these programs, the School directs the RN to BSN, post-masters Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), a top ranked Nurse Anesthesia program that will transition into a post Bachelor’s DNP program within the next few years, and is the degree-granting institution for the USNWR #1 ranked US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN), offering the post Bachelor’s DNP degree. Bouvé is a leader in research and education in the areas of drug discovery and delivery, urban population health, healthy aging (lifespan), and self-care/self-management. Bouvé also uses a state-of-the-art simulation lab to teach clinical reasoning and task training. Bouvé provides health care and health professions education via our Health and Wellness van. Bouvé College is on an exciting path of growth with successfully hiring over 20 new faculty in the past year. The research enterprise is supported by an office of research within the College and an interdisciplinary initiative was inaugurated in 2011.


Bouvé College of Health Sciences has a faculty of 189, with approximately 2,100 undergraduate and 1,500 graduate students. It is the leading national model for education and research in the health, psychosocial and biomedical sciences and supports the University’s mission of educating students for a life of fulfillment and accomplishment and creating and translating knowledge to meet global and societal needs. The College also encourages collaboration with the Institute on Urban Health Research, the Center for Community Health Education and Research, the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and other program and research centers within Northeastern University.
