Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director for Regional Admission and Multicultural Recruitment and the direct guidance of the Director of Undergraduate Admission, the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission for Multicultural Recruitment will assist in all aspects of the recruitment of underrepresented students in the undergraduate admissions process including assisting in the development and implementation of the multicultural strategy; coordination of programs and events; liaison with appropriate units on campus as well as off-campus agencies and services relevant to this population. In addition, the Assistant Director will design and implement an effective recruitment strategy within a specified domestic travel territory and evaluate applications for admission to the University. The Assistant Director’s recruitment strategy will include travel in assigned territories designed to attract and subsequently enroll freshman and transfer students in line with university priorities. Further responsibilities include counseling and advising students and families regarding the admission process, conducting interviews and presentations, maintaining relationships with secondary school and transfer counselors, alumni admission volunteers, and managing their territory throughout the admission cycle.
Bachelor’s degree required. One to three years of experience in student recruitment and secondary/college admission required. Admission counseling experience including recruitment programming, travel scheduling, student counseling, application evaluation, and presenting before small and large groups also required. Proven ability to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills, sensitivity and responsiveness to the needs of diverse constituents is desirable, along with strong organizational skills. Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record, and the ability to lift 30 pounds in order to move recruitment materials.
