Serves as a member of the departmental management team and shares in the leadership, support, and assistance to residence hall staff. Supervises 4 full-time Residence Directors, Graduate Assistant and approximately 55 Resident Assistants Responsible for the recruitment and selection of all Professional, Graduate and Resident Assistant staff members. This position involves travel to national conferences for the recruitment of staff.
Coordinates the Department’s WE CARE response with the appropriate University constituencies and completes the daily transport log Clarifying and resolving student/parent complaints with departmental policies, procedures, and directives Assists residence hall staff with student development, violations of community standards, crisis intervention, conflict resolution and mediation This staff member will participate in an on-call duty rotation. This staff member will carry a pager and be available to respond to crisis/problem situations approximately once every five weeks. When paged, staff member will be expected to direct and or coordinate to problem or crisis situation.
Oversees the Residence Director duty schedule, Special Residential Life ID process and maintains up to date staff lists. Summer responsibilities include oversight of the student consolidation process.
Coordination and implementation of departmental decisions and directives. Responsible for the assessment of staff and student developmental needs and advising innovative approaches to address those needs.
Balancing job demands with the needs to collaborate with university and community colleagues to enhance the department and one’s own professional development.
Successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.
Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education administration, or related field. Four to six years in residence hall administration, including experience as a live-in staff member. Experience supervising professional residence hall staff. Experience with recruitment, selection and hiring of staff of varying levels (para-professional, graduate and professional). National placement experience strongly preferred. Comprehensive understanding of student development research and theories. Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills
