Position Summary:
The Assistant Director will be responsible for recruitment, admissions, and cooperative education placements for a thematic group of professional MS degree programs. The Assistant Director will develop and implement processes for application recruitment and review and will regularly interact with faculty who serve as graduate directors who will oversee proactive recruitment activities. The Assistant Director will build industry relationships for both cooperative education opportunity and for applicant recruitment through business ties. The Assistant Director will be responsible for preparing and for placing a group of students into cooperative education experiences. In addition, the Assistant Director will have a role in student advising and will serve as the first point of contact for students seeking academic support. Initially, the position will report to the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies and will report to the Executive Director for Professional Education when the position is filled.
The position is new and it requires leadership, initiative, innovation, problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent judgments in various ways such as the counseling of applicants and students. A demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and experience in working with international students are required of the position.
Qualifications:
A Masters degree is required as well as at least four years of related administrative experience. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are required. Computer literacy requirements include strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment including MS Word, Excel, and Access. Must be highly organized and self-directed with the ability to work as a team member. Experience in higher education is preferred.
