Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured faculty position in an innovative and expanding Master of Science in Regulatory Affairs of Food and Food Industries. The position begins July 2013. The new program is currently offered online and in the Boston, MA, area. Its curriculum places a strong emphasis on regulatory strategy and the laws, policies, and regulations surrounding food and food products and related business and marketing sectors, as well as international regulations.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Developing and teaching a full-time load of 6-8 courses per year in online and on-ground delivery formats in Boston, MA.
- Curriculum research and development
- Program assessment and evaluation
- Course development
Marketing and recruitment:
- Identifying potential student populations and developing targeted recruitment strategies
- Program expansion (identification of potential industrial, regional, or international partners)
- Student recruitment and limited academic advising
- Serving on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of both the College and the wider University
Additional roles can include staff management, recruiting and mentoring new adjunct faculty and teaching assistants, cultivating ties to regional, national, and international companies, and developing customized training programs for domestic or international regulatory agencies.
Applicants must have earned terminal degree in a related field (e.g., life or food sciences, business administration, public policy, food law – legal candidates must have experience with food or regulatory affairs). The successful candidate should demonstrate outstanding teaching competence and have substantial professional experience in various regulatory aspects of the food industry or the related business or marketing sectors. The successful candidate must have knowledge of the regulatory environments in the US, EU, and other nations. Experience working in India, China, Singapore, or Brazil is a plus.
