Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Assistant Director of Admissions Volunteer Programs and guidance of the Sr. Associate Director for External Affairs, the Admissions Counselor supports community building and the selection, training, and development of 150+ student leaders in the Husky Ambassador program. He/She supports evaluation, assessment, and benchmarking of Northeastern’s various campus tours to recommend and develop improvements. The Admissions Counselor also provides assistance to the Sr. Assistant Director with training and providing customer service for Alumni Admissions Volunteers. Additionally, he/she advises various applicant populations, including domestic and international freshmen and transfer students, by phone, in person, electronically, and through social media. This person conducts information sessions as needed, marketing the University effectively and appropriately to students, parents, and guidance counselors. He/She provides the highest level of service and engagement to all campus visitors and University constituents, ensuring that the Northeastern brand and image are accurately conveyed. The incumbent will, as needed, assist with local recruitment activities such as high school visits and events, as well as read, evaluate and make admission decision recommendations. Some evening and weekend commitments are required.
Bachelor’s degree required with 1-2 years of relevant experience. Strong presentation and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Must pay attention to detail and possess strong organizational skills. Background in admissions or student services desired. A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, who actively contributes to the office welfare in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and is sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies is required.
