The Administrative Coordinator will report to the Director of the Antimicrobial Discovery Center and will perform diversified administrative, supervisory, and support duties as a member of a team of faculty, scientists, post-docs, and graduate students to assure the smooth and efficient operation of the Center. This person will assist with administrative systems within the Center in the areas of budget, grant processing, hiring, and general administrative operations. Responsibilities will include assisting the Director in managing the Center’s projects; managing finances; scheduling; interactions with funding agencies and with support offices at NU. In addition, the Administrative Officer will assist with budgetary matters such as coordination of requisitions, oversight of purchasing and travel reimbursement processes, and maintenance of records of purchase and payment. This person will also be responsible scheduling all weekly staff meetings, ordering food, planning annual lab retreat and other staff offsite meetings.
Seeking an energetic, intelligent and resourceful individual with a Bachelor’s degree or higher with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have expertise in Excel software programs. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and handle confidential material. Must be highly organized and detail oriented. 2-4 years experience in office management or similar, preferably in Higher Education or Science environment.
