Primary Function of Organization Unit: We are the only nuclear engineering program in the state of North Carolina and one of the premier departments in the southeast United States. The Department of Nuclear Engineering at NC State has been rated as one of the top Departments in the US and has doubled in faculty size over the last five years. The Carolinas currently contributes to the advancement of the nuclear enterprise regionally, nationally and internationally. And through collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, NC State's Nuclear Engineering Department is increasing its footprint on the national and global level.

Essential Job Duties: The position entails teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in nuclear engineering, and conducting externally funded research at NCSU with the objective of building and leading a world class research team. The selected candidate is expected to introduce new graduate level courses based on his or her research expertise. - Ability to attract external funding for research. - Conduct research programs supportive of the Department's thrust areas on continued basis. - Develop course material for the new courses.

Minimum Education/Experience: Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering or equivalent in a closely relevant area is required.

Department Required Skills : Strong teaching skills and an internationally recognized research program. Visionary leader in nuclear development and applications.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Expertise in the broad areas of nuclear engineering such as fission, fusion and radiation science, with preference for nuclear fission power or nuclear security applications.
