Essential Job Duties:
The position provides a unique opportunity for an appropriate individual interested in identifying and characterizing natural plant-derived compounds that promote human health, supported with a state-of-the art fleet of analytical instrumentation. The candidate will help to elucidate the inherent differences in polyphenol content of fruits and vegetables as a function of variety, ripening stage, farming technique, storage conditions and postharvest handling. The research focuses on the identification and quantification of natural products utilizing NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC, and will integrate bioassays for efficacy relevant to human health. The North Carolina Research Campus houses state of the art HPLC, LC-MS, LC-MS/MS (TOF, Q-TOF, IT- TOF), GC-MS and a range of NMR instruments from 400 – 950 MHz, and provides a interactive environment that encourages and fosters collaboration. The candidate will assist in developing methodology, processing data, providing technical support to other researchers, troubleshooting and maintaining the instruments.
