Primary Function of Organization Unit: The purpose of the Department of Student Health Services (SHS) is to provide appropriate, affordable, accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible students, and provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health promotion program in the NC State University community. The major function of the SHS is that of providing outpatient care to the 34,000+ NC State students. Some level of medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the academic year beginning in August and ending in May. Hours of service vary during the summer and during holidays and student breaks.
Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose of the Physician Assistant is to deliver comprehensive individualized health care that includes diagnosing and treating acute and chronic illnesses, patient education/counseling, and health promotion/disease prevention. Assess & diagnose, interpret medical & clinical information, & other diagnosis tests, develop a plan of care based on patient history, physical examination, diagnostic test & procedures when indicated. Prescribe and/or modify treatment plans and/or medication.
Department Required Skills : Experienced at ambulatory patient care, including making medical diagnosis & prescribing medications. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Prefer minimum of 1 year experience as a Physician Assistant working in ambulatory care, such as primary care, acute care, internal medicine, urgent care, HMO or physician's office. Specific interest and experience in Men's Health. Good communication & documentation skills. Ability to work with diverse college age population.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: Obtains required CE for maintaining license & approval to practice by Medical Board.
