Primary Function of Organization Unit: The National Science Foundation Center for Integrated Pest Management (NSFCIPM) was established in 1991 to serve a lead role in technology development, program implementation, training, and public awareness for IPM at the state, regional, and national level. NSFCIPM fosters the development and implementation of pest management programs. NSF CIPM is an Industry / University Cooperative Research Center, which works to support and further Integrated Pest Management through the evaluation of emerging technologies, information management and dissemination, environmental stewardship, estimation of economic consequences, resistance management tools and systems, and integration of disciplinary expertise. The Center manages grants programs for the USDA, develops regional and national priorities through workshops and stakeholder meetings, and develops and maintains large databases and database applications for USDA, EPA, and Ministries of Agriculture in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.
Essential Job Duties: This is technical and analytical work in developing, designing, and/or analyzing technical solutions for clients through an appropriate blending of technical knowledge and business solutions. Employees participate in the development of solutions using programming expertise for day-to-day problems to include maintenance, modification or development of complex inter-related applications/solutions. Solutions link technical knowledge with business solutions and may range from consulting services (software or hardware recommendations) to developing integrated-automated systems. Duties include client needs assessment as well as evaluating hardware availability and software requirements. Duties include *Maintain, service and troubleshoot CIPM computer servers and desktop machines. Diagnose, upgrade and maintain CIPM network 24 x7. Install software and upgrades. Diagnose hardware and software issues. Co-ordinates activities with developers and PI's. Work with Federal IT staff in order to comply with CIPM Certification and Accreditation requirements.*

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Preferred Experience - 3 years experience developing using Cold Fusion OR 3 years Java, 3 years database management. Preferred Skills - Cold Fusion Application Developer, JAVA (using Struts and Eclispe), MS SQL and/or Oracle database development, excellent analytical, writing and verbal skills, project management, customer/client management, developing applications for biological systems, ability to work independently and within a group. Work towards a Macromedia ColdFusion developer certification OR JAVA certification is desirable. Bachelor of Science in Agriculturally related field (Entomology, Crop Science, Ag.
