Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
Family and Consumer Sciences views the family, in all its diverse forms, as the cornerstone of a healthy society. Our mission is to improve the well-being of the family through programs that educate, influence public policy, and help families put research-based knowledge to work in their lives. Family and Consumer Sciences hold appointments with the NC Cooperative Extension Service and work across the spectrum of family needs. These include nutrition, food safety, parenting, human development, aging, housing, community & volunteer development, health, and family resource management.
Essential Job Duties:
The SNAP-Ed Adult /Older Adult Nutrition associate, under the direction of the SNAP-Ed Principal Investigator (PI), will assist the Adult/Older Adult Nutrition Specialist and Family Resource Management Specialist as needed. Under their direction she/he will assist with the selection, revision and/or development of the SNAP-Ed adult/older adult nutrition education program(s) including process, curricula and educational materials. She/he will assist/educate/monitor county Cooperative Extension staff in the delivery of all SNAP-Ed programs in an assigned region or as needed. She/he will work toward and assist in expanding the Adult/Older Adult Nutrition and Family Resource Management Specialists’ program-outreach to additional adult and older adult audiences. Lastly, she/he will assist with the preparation and submission of the annual Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Education Program (SNAP-Ed) proposal and all funder-required data collection and quarterly and final reports.

•Experience with low-income programs and consumers
•Good technical skills including Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs, familiarity with web site development and internet communication
Necessary Licenses or Certifications:
A valid North Carolina driver’s license must be obtained within 60 days of start date.
