Primary Function of Organization Unit: NC State's newest Village opportunity, reflects the University's commitment to prepare students for personal lives and careers that embrace the important changes needed to advance sustainability. Eco Village provides educational opportunities that inspire students to lead, serve, create, build problem-solving skills, and engage with complex issues addressing the energy and environmental challenges of society. This Village is located in Bragaw Residence Hall, centrally located on main campus, and features easy access to classes, dining, the Student Cinema, and the Student Health Center. The new EcoVillage is dedicated to assisting university students in social connection and transition to the University, as well as advancing sustainability in their academic programs and activities.

Essential Job Duties: The new EcoVillage Director is a full-time, master degree required, position working jointly with University Housing and Academic Programs and services. This position manages and oversees a residential area housing approximately 127 undergraduate residents in Bragaw Residence Hall, which includes the new EcoVillage. The new EcoVillage Director selects, trains, supervises and evaluates EcoVillage staff; conducts regular staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with EcoVillage staff; coordinates and/or presents staff development training sessions; serves as the advisor to student EcoVillage committees; facilitates training and leadership development for Village students; meets regularly with and advises Village student leaders; attends and provides guidance during Village meetings and events. The position will chair the University EcoVillage Advisory Committee; develop programming and special events to support the learning outcomes of the Village; create opportunities for collaboration between EcoVillage stakeholders including faculty, staff, students and alumni; maintain a high level of visibility and develop positive working relationships with residents of the community; develop and administer Village assessment initiatives.

Minimum Education/Experience: A Master's degree (or higher) in Higher Education or field related to the environment, energy and/or sustainability by time of hire.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Prefer experience with student development and/or advising. Preference will be given to candidates who exhibit an understanding or experience with living and learning communities as well as creating enhanced academic programs and implementing innovative co-curricular experiences and working with high achieving students. Science background preferred.
