Primary Function of Organization Unit: Established in 1992, the NC State University Poole College of Management offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in accounting, business management and economics. Our faculty is organized in four academic departments: Accounting, Business Management, Economics and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The college's accounting and business management programs are accredited by AACSB International.

Essential Job Duties: The Director of Sustainability Education will lead the development of a new Sustainability Initiative in the Poole College of Management. The primary purpose of the Sustainability Initiative is to support our faculty in the education of management and economic students and build partnerships with industry to drive sustainability-related improvement projects. The Poole College desires to be recognized for the relevance and quality of the training it provides in sustainability management and economics. Primary Purpose of the Position The Director will work with the Dean of the Poole College and the College's Sustainability Committee to plan and build the Sustainability Initiative. The Director will be responsible for coordinating this effort. We expect that the Initiative will include: * Student organizations to engage graduate and undergraduate students in sustainability management, e.g., Net Impact. * A Sustainability Management Advisory Board that will include representatives from organizations recognized for the success of their sustainability programs. The purpose of the Advisory Board is to guide the development of the Sustainability Initiative and the fuller integration of sustainability management into our academic courses and research. * A network of organizations that support student engagement in sustainability management through summer internships, practicums and similar activities that expose students to real world experience * Sponsorship of speakers recognized for their leadership and expertise who will expose our students and faculty to best practices in sustainability management * Connections to leading sustainability organizations and with other business schools that are recognized for excellence in sustainability education

Minimum Education/Experience: * Bachelor's Degree * 5-10 years of experience in a private or public sector sustainability initiative or in a sustainability management education initiative at a university * More than 10 years of relevant managerial experience * Evidence of the ability to lead the development of new programs within a large organization * Maturity and judgment necessary for working with sophisticated colleagues in a complex organization

Department Required Skills : * Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively * Strong written and oral communication skills * Interest in working with student teams on projects * Computer literacy

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Graduate Degree * Established relationships/experience with sustainability-focused industry groups * Established relationships with individuals and organizations actively engaged in successful sustainability programs * Several years of senior management experience * Experience working or teaching in a university or corporate training facility
