Clinical Veterinary Pharmacy Resident

Primary Function of Organization Unit: Since its inception, the College of Veterinary Medicine(CVM) has chosen to put its focus on six specific program areas: Companion Animal Medicine, Food Supply Medicine, Biomedical Research, Ecosystem Health, Equine Medicine, and Animal Welfare. Through these six areas, the NC State CVM prepares the next generation of veterinarians and veterinarian scientists, conducts bench and clinical research to solve animal and human health problems, addresses critical ecosystem and public health issues, helps protect the U.S. food supply, and promotes a clearer understanding and appreciation of the ramifications related to the growing human-animal bond that is at the center of these concerns.
Essential Job Duties: Resident will participate and lead clinical rounds in both small and large animal clinics. Will perform drug utilization review on hospital patients. Time will be spent in the clinical pharmacy or clinical pharmacology laboratory providing drug information, preparing sterile and non-sterile compounds and chemotherapeutics agents, designing implementing and monitoring clinical drug studies. 50% of resident time will be spent in clinical practice activities and 50% in the clinical pharmacy or pharmacology services. Minimum Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy and current North Carolina Pharmacy License in good standing are required. Degrees and licenses in progress may be considered. All required degrees/licenses must be attained by date of hire. Referenced Minimum Experience/Experience is PharmD, NOT DVM (or equivalent degree). PharmD is required by position start date.
