Primary Function of Organization Unit: Advancement Services supports the operations of Alumni Relations, University Development & University Comm. The unit oversees the university's alumni & donor database, Advance*, processing gifts and conducting research about potential contribution opportunities. Advancement Services also maintains financial records, conducts donor research, receipts corporate & individual private gifts following the NC State Standard Operating Procedures for Acceptance of Gifts, administers the corporate matching gifts program, updates & verifies alumni records, manages donor prospect tracking systems, plans and manages stewardship & assists with proposal preparation.
Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to develop Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to meet the needs of University Advancement and constituent units drawing from Advancement BI systems. The position focuses on the Business Intelligence Solutions (SAS and Business Objects WebI). This is a Contributing Business and Technology Analyst position that is responsible for working with the Lead Applications Analyst, team members, and functional offices in order to implement custom BI solutions run on a regular basis by the end-users, one-time as-needed BI Solutions per user request, fiscal year-end fundraising reports as well as any other data requested. The position, along with collaborating analysts will also work with end users to assist with complex or difficult data requests to ensure that their needs are met. He/she will also develop training materials and documentation related to use of Advance Business Intelligence Solutions for University Advancement customers. In a help desk role, he/she will collaborate with fellow analysts to answer questions and request for information and analysis posed by the Advancement user community about Advancement data. This position serves as a critical role in the supporting BI systems for fundraising staff at NC State University. University Advancement has made significant investment in time and resources in the last two years to acquire and implement a new version of Advance and converting from Business Objects to SAS BI. These implementations are critical to the success of NC State's fundraising activities, permitting seamless access to the data from any viable internet connection in the world. The SAS BI system is key to the successful run-up to, and throughout, the next capital campaign; all high priorities for the Chancellor and the University leadership. This position will contribute significantly to converting from Business Objects and maintaining SAS BI system while providing customer-centric solutions that will allow University Advancement to operate effectively and efficiently.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Strongly prefer a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering or other relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience * Demonstrated experience in systems analysis, business process analysis, requirements gathering, and / or translating business requirements into technical specifications. * Knowledge of BI systems, preferably SAS BI. * Prefer two or more years experience as a BI/Reporting/User Support Analyst * Experience in higher education administrative computing and information services * Knowledge of advancement systems, preferable Ellucian Advance * Knowledge of BI systems, preferable SAS BI * Preference will be given to candidates that have prior experience in a large land grant research institution
