Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Engineering Foundation continues to raise funds and engage with alumni to support the important work of the people who define the College of Engineering (COE). Gifts can support scholarships, fellowships, professorships, academic programs, faculty research and other initiatives that are not typically supported through state appropriations.
Essential Job Duties: The Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Engagement is responsible for implementing the operating plan and solicitations for the College of Engineering’s annual unrestricted giving program/Dean’s Circle. The Assistant Director handles solicitation and stewardship of all annual gifts from alumni, parents and friends and assists Major Gift Officers in prospect research, identification, and solicitation of gifts. Duties and Responsibilities: • Maintain a donor portfolio and conduct 10 – 12 face-to-face, monthly visits to solicit leadership annual gifts to the NC State Engineering Foundation. Serve as primary liaison with NC State Annual Giving Office, coordinating annual gift solicitation schedules and providing updated information about the College of Engineering to Phone-A-Thon student workers. • Solicit new donors for gifts in the amount of $1,000 and above that are affiliated with the NC State College of Engineering Dean’s Circle, Leadership Annual giving. Develop and update lists of possible Dean’s Circle prospects. Work with Sr. Director of Development and Alumni Engagement to implement the Operating Plan for the COE Annual Fund/Dean’s Circle. Prepare monthly reports that summarize Dean’s Circle activity and face-to-face visits. • Assist in the development of all solicitation materials related to annual giving and the printing and editing of the Dean’s Circle brochure, when necessary. Assist in the development of a stewardship plan for Dean’s Circle that includes mailings to highlight how Dean’s Circle gifts are utilized. • Identify, qualify, and solicit potential major gift prospects for the Engineering Foundation. • Serve as the primary liaison to outside vendors for the COE direct mail and solicitation programs.
Minimum Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree. - Experience (professional, student, and/or volunteer) in development or alumni relations.
Department Required Skills : - Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. - Enthusiasm for fund-raising in a public university. - Effective ability to multi-task. - Ability to work with multiple and varied constituencies. - Collegial; ability to work as part of a team in a goal-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Ability to learn database applications.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: - Driver’s license required to make visits and attend events.
