National-Louis University has been built on a strong foundation of educational excellence and innovation within a culture that has embraced diversity and access. That ongoing commitment to diversity is a core value for our institution and a source of inspiration for our community. Accordingly, our institution must always foster a diverse and inclusive environment that supports our mission of providing access to quality higher education. To deny this would be to deny our identity. Throughout my life and with my career, I have embraced and fostered a strong and diverse community and am a firm believer in walking the walk. I look forward to working with the Diversity & Inclusion Council, listening to their recommended strategies for continuing to foster a culture "where every person is given the opportunity to be heard, respected, valued and welcomed" as described in NLU's Diversity Statement, and implementing an action plan that will address our areas of opportunity. I invite everyone to browse the Diversity & Inclusion Council's webpage for insight into the diversity and diversity-related activities at National-Louis University. You'll find news about the Council's efforts and information about the work of the many staff and faculty committed to enhancing the climate of diversity and inclusion. I encourage you to become involved with the Council's activities and share your perspective and knowledge as we work together to foster an inclusive environment for everyone in the NLU community. I have no doubt that, working together, we will achieve new heights.
