The Director of Institutional Advancement Operations will provide leadership for the strategic and operational aspects of the Institutional Advancement Office. The successful candidate will oversee programs and fundraising staff, and collaborate with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement to ensure that development work supports the department’s short and long-term strategic goals. S/he will facilitate an environment that enhances communication and encourages collaboration amongst staff, the colleges as well as other departments and program areas. The Director will be strategic, innovative, and a results-oriented leader with a demonstrated knowledge of the established principles and practices of institutional fundraising, marketing and communications.

Principal Responsibilities
• Responsible for the daily operations of the department, including but not limited to, providing leadership and oversight, and ensuring the integrity of gift processing/acknowledgement, donor file maintenance, data requests and reporting;
• Strategic planning for the operational areas that support the fundraising efforts and goals;
• Provides leadership and guidance to staff soliciting corporate, foundation and government grants, as well as major and annual gifts. Serves as the liaison with other University leaders who have fundraising-related duties;
• In collaboration with the Vice President, develops short and long-term goals for strategic programs and projects. Provides vision, guidance, feedback and oversight of activities, operations and external relations;
• Works collaboratively with other University leaders on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and expanding relationships with individual donors, corporations, and foundations. Sets and defines priorities with developing plans for fundraising which effectively builds recognition and enhances support;
• Assists with analyzing the department’s budget and researching ways to reduce costs and/or secure funding sources; and,
• Produces reports as necessary to track progress against University goals and benchmarks to support donor engagement and investment. Provides strategically relevant data and trends about the constituent base.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess the skills and strategies needed to cultivate and maintain strong relationships among a variety of constituents including alumni, parents, friends, foundations and businesses. S/he will have the ability to work both independently as well as part of a team; communicate persuasively, verbally and in writing; articulate opinions, with strong written/verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will possess effective interpersonal skills with a high level of initiative and energy. A bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum of 7 years of progressive, successful fundraising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s preferred.
