The Associate Director supports the mission and strategic plan of the University by providing resources and services that complement the academic experience at NLU.
The AD provides dynamic, innovative leadership and oversight of all the efforts of student development by planning, managing, and administering programming, resources and services for students. This role will implement strategies designed to enhance the overall educational experience and involvement of students and members through the development of social, leadership, service learning, community involvement, cultural, intellectual, recreational, athletic, and governance programs.
The Associate Director of Student Development reports directly to the Director of Student Experience and serves as a key member of the Student Services administrative team.
The Associate Director of Student Development is responsible for: serving as a university judicial officer and student behavior consultant; all student programming for education, professional development, and compliance; service learning through community outreach, student service opportunities; development of a student support network including LGBTQA, counseling/emotional support, student life resources, and alumni mentor program.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
3-5 years of previous experience working as a professional in higher education and/or student services
Knowledge of student organizations and event planning
Experience with community outreach and service oriented planning activities
Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies and experience handling escalated behavioral issues
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
