This position will manage financial aid operations and staff in the Student Finance Office, ensuring all aid awarding and processing is compliant with regulations and that the proper training and coverage are provided so students receive excellent service. It will be responsible for researching federal and state regulations, updating policies and procedures as necessary and developing implementation strategies. It also acts as an escalation point for all complicated and unresolved student issues and questions both within the department as well as works with external departments and outside agencies on these matters and confirms all issues are resolved appropriately.
In effort to meet compliance requirements and provide excellent student service, the Asst. Dir. of Financial Aid, will audit the work of their colleagues, research regulator questions and provide training.
Federal Work Study – packaging, verification, ensure financial aid awards are done in a timely manner, manage FWS budget and regulatory requirements, recruitment, and policy and procedures.
Veteran School Certifying Official – manage all processes associated with VA students, enrollment status, tuition rates, Yellow Ribbon Program, compliance, and resource.
Customer Service – provide customer service training, oversee phone system and front counter, responsible for phone communication messages, review call statistics, update website, create internal/external financial aid communications, ie. forms, handouts, and presentations.
Federal and state regulations – monitor, ensures all university policies and practices are compliant and implement required changes, develop training materials and provide training on regulations for financial aid team, communicate any changes that may impact other departments at university and answers any questions they may have about policy changes.
Audits – Directs audits with outside auditors, state organizations such as ISAC, and any federal requests. Coordinates document gathering from all departments, answers questions regarding institutional policies, practices and aid eligibility requirements. Addresses all auditor inquiries and ensures all issues are resolved.
Administers the awarding of all institutional and external agency scholarships, grants and discounts.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial aid with an emphasis in compliance.
Knowledge of Title IV regulations.
Supervisory experience required.
Banner experience a plus.
