Job Description:

The School of Business at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Economics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level starting September 1, 2012. We seek candidates who have a background in or an interest in developing expertise in economic conditions in New Jersey and the Northeast. The position will involve considerable interaction with the local business community and the media. The primary responsibilities of the candidate selected are to teach introductory courses in micro or macroeconomics and selected elective courses in economics at the undergraduate and MBA levels and to pursue scholarly research leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Consistent with their level of experience, they will serve on department, school, and university-level committees, advise students, and participate in curriculum review and development activities.

 

The School of Business is accredited by AACSB International at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; it offers BS in Business Administration, BA in Economics, MBA, and MS Accounting degree programs.  A total of 75 full-time faculty members bring an impressive range of expertise to the School, with terminal degrees and advanced training from leading universities.  The School of Business is committed to raising our scholarly profile and has dedicated substantial resources to support faculty research and development; the School houses research journals in multiple disciplines and has hosted several national and international business conferences. The Department of Economics and Finance has twenty tenure or tenure-track faculty members, ten in economics. The department members have a wide range of research interests. 

Qualifications & Requirements

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics or a related field (or be expected to complete their Ph.D. by August 2012). They should have knowledge in or an interest in developing expertise in regional economic conditions in New Jersey and the Northeast. They should also exhibit potential to publish in high-quality journals, and have teaching experience.  Preference will be given to qualified candidates who have publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or a strong research pipeline, delivered presentations at national and/or international conferences, demonstrated excellence in teaching evidenced by peer and student evaluations, and experience in interacting with the local business community and the media.  Interest in or experience with on-line curriculum development and/or teaching is desirable.

Salary Range:

Salary dependent upon qualifications
