The MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for a Director of Clinical Education (DCE) for a new Master of Physician Assistant Studies program to begin in 2015. We are seeking a dynamic individual who will be part of an interprofessional team within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS). Located in the historic Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, the MGH Institute is affiliated with Partners HealthCare System, which includes the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, as well as a physician’s network, community health centers, and other healthcare entities. These affiliations offer unparalleled opportunities for faculty and students to learn and work alongside expert practitioners in a variety of hospital, clinical and community settings. Responsibilities. The Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for coordinating clinical placements, developing collaborative opportunities with community partners, curriculum development and evaluation, and contributing to interprofessional growth within SHRS. The clinical coordinator will also play a prominent role in the program’s preparation for an ARC-PA site visit in April, 2014. The DCE will have teaching responsibilities, and will be expected to participate in scholarly activities.
Qualifications. The Director of Clinical Education must hold a master’s degree, with a doctorate preferred, be an NCCPA-certified physician assistant or board-certified physician with eligibility for licensure in Massachusetts, and have at least 5 years of clinical experience. Other qualified individuals may be considered, as appropriate. Previous academic leadership, PA program development and experience with ARC-PA accreditation are highly desirable. The applicant should have strong communication and organizational skills, with evidence of leadership. The position is a 12-month appointment, with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Institute does not have tenure.
