Manchester Community College seeks a Graphic Designer to enhance the operation of the Marketing Department in its mission to provide a positive and consistent brand for the college.

SCOPE OF WORK: To enhance the operation of the Marketing Department in its mission to provide a positive and consistent brand for the college. Gathers, assimilates and develops information into a comprehensive list of college publications and its website using technical skills in design. This position reports to the Director of Communications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Creates, designs, and consults with faculty and staff regarding the production and timeline expectations of brochures, handbooks, catalogs, newsletters, flyers, forms and advertisements, etc.
  • Designs current college information from academics, admissions, financial aid, continuing education and other departments.
  • With the Webmaster initiates design format changes of the college website and interactive media (blogs, social media, etc.)Observes all academic policies and procedures and institutional rules and regulations.
  • In the absence of the college Webmaster maintains and updates college website.
  • Develops processes and protocols to facilitate the ease of transition of projects between other departments and the marketing department.
  • Trains other college personnel on use of graphic design and desktop publishing templates as needed.
  • Suggests and creates original design and comprehensive layout concepts for promotional communications media such as website, catalogs, course schedulers, newspapers, brochures, etc.
  • Maintains a graphics and photographic library and/or maintains digital records.
  • Shoots high quality photographs to keep communication media current/fresh.
  • Establish and maintain a publications guide to be used by college departments to assure integrity of the college image.
  • Responds to questions from internal and external audiences concerning program policies, procedures and requirements.
  • Complies with all college, system, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate’s degree from a recognized college or technical school, or two years of graphic design programs. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Three (3) years of electronic graphic design. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor degree in graphic design from a recognized college. Knowledge and experience with HTML, and Adobe Creative Suite (with strong emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator). Familiarity with MAC environment, CMS, CSS and social media. Ability to graphically design visually attractive material to consistently enhance the college's brand. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of mathematics. Knowledge of computer techniques used in the information processing field. Knowledge of the principles of systematic problem solving and the fundamentals of information processing. Knowledge of agency-specific computer program as a problem solving communications media. Knowledge of the development of documentation techniques, flow charting and problem solving using computer language. Knowledge of the theory of data organization and access with the ability to solve problems by utilizing computer programming. Ability to communicate effectively with various department and division representatives. Ability to reduce problems to basic detail. Ability to work with mathematical and algebraic formulae. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and with personnel in other colleges. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college’s appointing authority.
