Luther College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Education (History). This is a two-year, non-tenure track leave replacement position beginning late August 2014; renewal for second year based on positive performance.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred; ABD or master’s degree considered (instructor rank). The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in a private liberal arts setting. Minimum five years recent experience of teaching middle and/or high school social studies required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching duties will include introductory and advanced teaching methods for secondary social studies. Course assignments may also include Educational Psychology, The Diverse and Exceptional Learner, supervision of introductory practica, interdisciplinary courses, and/or supervision of student teachers. Advising may be a responsibility in the second year. The non-tenure track teaching load at Luther College is seven courses per year (spread over spring and fall semesters and a January term).
