Professor and Chairperson of the Biology Department
Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Biology invites applications for Chair of the Department. This tenure-track position will be at the Full Professor level and applicants from all areas of Biology will be considered.
The Department, which is housed in the state-of-the-art Quinlan Life Sciences Education and Research Center on Loyola's Lakeshore Campus, serves approximately 1500 undergraduate majors, 55 students in a MA in Medical Sciences program and 25 thesis-based MS students, and contributes courses to programs in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Forensic Sciences, Exercise Physiology, Nursing and a Neuroscience Minor.
The recent establishment of the Institute of Urban Environmental Sustainability will provide additional opportunities for interdepartmental collaborations. For more details about the Department, visit www.luc.edu/biology.
The successful candidate will lead a department with 20 tenure-track and 18 full-time non-tenure track faculty members. The successful candidate will be expected to promote excellence in the undergraduate and graduate programs, and contribute to the research environment.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree and leadership experience in Biology or a closely related field are required. Also expected is a research record that warrants an appointment at the Full Professor level.
