Director, Advising & Counseling (#12484) TC
To provide leadership and management of an integrated student services program. Oversee functions related to counseling and academic advising.
Lead, design, and manage the college’s academic advising program.
Lead the college’s counseling program, including disability services.
Lead, hire, train, supervise and evaluate full-time and part-time advisors, counselors, and support staff.
Administer services to veterans to insure that enrollment is aligned with the requirements of GI Bill and all regulations pertaining to veterans.
Collaborate with college faculty and staff in the promotion of the college’s programs at local high schools, and civic groups regarding admissions, registration, financial aid, student life, and academic programs.
Assist with student recruitment, dual credit, early college, and home school programs as assigned by the Dean of Student Development.
Conduct personnel evaluations and assist staff members in planning professional and development experiences.
Regularly assess and analyze student needs, interests, and events for developing programs, polices, goals, objectives, and plans for reports and evaluations.
In collaboration with Enrollment Management and Financial Aid, provide representation for the College at outreach/recruitment events and activities.
Assist with registration activities as assigned.
Assist the Dean with budget development through program and staffing needs assessment.
Direct the process for providing students with necessary information for suspension meetings and collect all necessary forms; schedule meetings and direct student contact about meeting dates for the suspension appeal.
Oversee delivery of student services to off-site locations.
Serve on college and district committees as required.
Assist the Dean with planning and reporting.
Master’s degree and at least 3 years experience in higher education
Work Schedule & Conditions:
PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment. Demonstrated PC skills in applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
College/District Staff - Contact with directors, faculty, and staff as necessary to provide or obtain information to carry out the general functions of the position.
Students – Direct student contact on daily basis
External - Contact with general public and community leaders
Requires in depth knowledge of college administration and student support services. Must focus on student success.
Directors are expected to stay abreast of current knowledge, trends, and practice in student services.
Work is primarily performed in a climate controlled office environment, readily accessible to the public. Some in-district travel required.
