Lasell College, founded in 1851, is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian institution of higher education located eight miles from Boston in Newton, Massachusetts. The College offers over 30 baccalaureate programs in, Communication, Environmental Studies, Graphic Design, Fashion, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Education, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Law and Public Affairs, Mathematics, and several areas of Business, Social Science, and the Humanities. Masters degrees are offered in Management, Sport Management, Communication, and Education, each with several concentration and certificate options.
The College has undergone significant growth over the past ten years, including a 60 percent increase in its undergraduate population to over 1600 students. The graduate program began ten years ago and now enrolls 300 students. As a result, the College has focused aggressively on full-time faculty hiring. Future plans include significant expansion of both graduate and undergraduate program degree offerings.

The Lasell College offers the opportunity for a dynamic individual to lead the education department forward as we grow and expand both our graduate and undergraduate programs. Lasell College offers 5 undergraduate licensure programs and 4 graduate programs. We have a robust enrollment, well designed curriculum, and an undergraduate program that is articulated with the graduate program. Our curriculum emphasizes reflective practice and teacher leadership with a Universal Design for Learning framework. The ideal candidate would have an entrepreneurial spirit and an innovative vision of a growing department and teacher education that serves diverse communities. We have a dynamic department with a multifaceted faculty representing varied disciplines.
The successful candidate should possess excellent administrative and organizational skills. The chair is responsible for managing the ongoing operations of the department, as well as fulfilling all state and federal reporting requirements. This is a faculty appointment with expectations for advising in all licensure programs and teaching courses in one or more licensure programs, including the graduate level, depending on candidate's interest and expertise. The candidate is expected to be active in his/her discipline through scholarly work in his/her field of expertise and should possess an earned doctorate in that field from an accredited institution. Chair appointments are reviewed every three years.
Qualifications- Applicants must have:
• An earned doctorate in education or related field from an accredited institution; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse communities;
• Commitment to high-quality field-focused teacher preparation
• Familiarity with regulations and reporting requirements related to accreditation and teacher licensure;
• Experience using instructional technology, including Moodle or similar learning management system.
Rank & Salary
Associate or full professor in the Education Department. The salary is competitive and commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications.
