Lasell College, founded in 1851, is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian institution of higher education located eight miles from Boston in Newton, Massachusetts. The College offers over 30 baccalaureate programs in, Communication, Environmental Studies, Graphic Design, Fashion, Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Education, Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Law and Public Affairs, Mathematics, and several areas of Business, Social Science, and the Humanities. The College has undergone significant growth over the past ten years, including a 60 percent increase in its undergraduate population to over 1600 students. The graduate program began ten years ago and now enrolls 300 students. As a result, the College has focused aggressively on full-time faculty hiring. The Department of Management/Marketing at Lasell College in Newton, MA seeks an Assistant Professor of Marketing for a Fall 2014 appointment. More senior rank will be considered based on experience and other credentials.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities could include undergraduate and graduate courses in a range of areas including Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Strategy, Social Marketing, Retail Merchandising and other Marketing core courses depending upon the candidate’s area of specialization. An ability and interest in utilizing an active, project-focused approach to teaching is critical. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent, enthusiastic teaching and student advocacy; ability to work cooperatively and productively with faculty, staff and students; commitment to productivity and professional development; and active participation in department and college service. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, being involved with student organizations, serving on committees, participating in curriculum development, working with learning outcomes assessment, participation in program marketing and promotion, and networking with community and professional contacts. The successful candidate will have the ability to shape the on-going development of this program in response to new potential markets and improvements in program curriculum.
Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in Marketing or related area is preferred; ABD or a Master’s degree in Marketing with significant Marketing Management experience will be considered. Prior college teaching experience preferred.
