GENERAL DUTIES: Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below.  Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION: Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre Arts to teach theatre courses across the discipline and serve as Director of the Theatre Arts Program. The program has 3 full-time faculty members, complemented by 5-7 adjuncts and two part-time technical staff members. The program operates in outstanding facilities on a 76-acre beachfront campus. The Director shall serve as a faculty member in the theatre arts program, as well as oversee all aspects of the program including: scheduling and staffing of all theatre courses, supervising theatre support staff, course and curriculum development, student recruitment, student advisement, and serving as producer for 2 departmental productions per year. Teaching within the department is an important part of this position as is departmental and college service and ongoing creative and/or scholarly activity. The Director will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Communications & Performing Arts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: MFA or PhD in Theatre and five years experience in college level teaching in theatre are required. Other expectations include excellent leadership, interpersonal communication and collaborative skills, success in leading a production team, and experience teaching in an urban community college environment. COMPENSATION: Assistant Professor:  $42,873-$81,645
Associate Professor:  $55,602 - $88,418
