This job expired 2 months ago.Kankakee Community College is nestled on the banks of the Kankakee River, 60 miles south of Chicago. The college serves approximately 4,200 credit students each semester and is dedicated to the mission of enhancing quality of life through learning. Though KCC is located in a growing tri-city metropolitan area, the college serves a largely rural district.
Provides instruction and assesses student learning in a variety of courses in the physical therapy assistant program; collaborates with colleagues to maintain and develop curriculum, serves on college committees, and performs other duties appropriate for a faculty member as assigned; is dedicated to the learning college concepts and develops programs and facilitates activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Is responsible to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer and monitor clinical activities for the clinical education component of the curriculum; selects and annually evaluates clinical education sites and provides documented records and assessment of the clinical component of the program.
Essential Responsibilities:
A. Provide instruction and assess student learning within their program area.
B. Select and review educational strategies and materials to facilitate achievement of competencies related to each course taught.
C. Prepare current syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with course master syllabi, college policies and procedures.
D. Collaborate with colleagues to review and revise curriculum, teaching materials, and teaching methods to promote student success and lifelong learning.
E. Advise, counsel and assist students enrolled in their program in accomplishing their course and program goals.
F. Meet classes as scheduled by the College and maintains office hours as stated in the KCC Faculty Association Contract.
G. Evaluate student performance, including maintaining and providing tenth day and midterm attendance in addition to grade records for each class.
H. Remain current with content, technology and teaching and learning strategies in the discipline.
I. Assess student learning outcomes at the class, course, and program levels as defined by the faculty Assessment Committee.
J. Participate in curriculum and course development.
K. Attend division and faculty meetings and communicate regularly with the program director and/or division associate dean regarding instructional concerns.
L. Participate in faculty evaluation and in-service development activities.
M. Work in a collaborative manner and respond to phone and email requests promptly.
N. Assist the program director and/or division associate dean in the recruitment and selection of part-time instructors.
O. Provide course materials and assistance to part-time instructors as requested by the program director and/or division associate dean.
P. Serve on college committees as stated in the KCC Faculty Association Contract.
Q. Assist in budget preparation by recommending supplies and capital items where applicable.
R. Follow the policies and procedures of the College as stated in the Faculty Handbook and the KCC Faculty Association Contract.
S. Represent and interpret the program informally at available opportunities such as high school visits, community gatherings, etc.
T. Attend the commencement program.
Specific Responsibilities:
A. Assists the program director in development of catalog and other marketing material for the program.
B. Assists the program director in planning for and ordering equipment and supplies, and coordinating maintenance and inventory of equipment for instructional purposes within the program.
C. Assists the program director in consulting with and advising the Learning Resource Center staff regarding desired books, periodicals, and audiovisual supplies.
D. Participates in the preparation of program assessment and evaluation reports of program accomplishments and concerns, making recommendations where appropriate to meet and maintain both College requirements for accreditation as well as the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) standards and expectations for Physical Therapist Assistant education programs.
E. Ensures all clinical facilities are provided all appropriate and necessary materials in a timely manner.
F. Collaborates with the program director to provide clinical faculty development including inservicing and training.
Other Responsibilities:
A. Advises the program director regarding the professional in-service training needs of the instructional staff.
B. Performs other duties as required or assigned by the division associate dean.
C. Responds to the functions of the position in an environmental setting which might include cold, heat, odor, dampness, dirt, fumes, dust, oil, grease, noise, or vibration on a frequent basis. Appropriate protective devices are available as required.
Educational and Experiential Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
A. Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Master’s or doctoral degree desirable.
B. Illinois license as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant required.
C. At least three years full-time clinical experience as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant required.
D. At least two years experience as a center coordinator of clinical education (CCCE) and/or clinical instructor (CI), or experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist program; community college experience preferred.
E. Prior experience as an excellent, innovative teacher in a variety of areas of teaching (academic, clinical, continuing education in-service) and with the use of instructional technologies desirable; community college teaching experience preferred.
F. Clinical or educational administration and/or human resource management experience preferred.
G. Member of the American Physical Therapy Association required.
H. Qualified candidate must have strong reading, writing, communication, and computation skills as well as be computer literate.
