John Jay College is both an internationally recognized leader in scholarly research on criminal justice and a premier academic institution whose public service mission draws students from around the world. Each of our criminal-justice oriented majors is broadened by a curriculum rich in the liberal arts and taught by experts in their field. A wide range of academic disciplines is examined, and subjects integral to justice, security and the rule of law, explored.
Undergraduate and graduate coursework is informed by the critical research conducted at John Jay. Queries about the role of the media in criminal justice, prisoner reentry, human rights and terrorism are posed and debated by John Jay’s centers and institutes. These serve to further the scholarly discourse surrounding these complex issues and provide essential information used by academics, policymakers and practitioners.
John Jay’s faculty brings together at one college some of the most renowned and internationally recognized experts in the criminal justice field. A tradition of academic excellence here affords students the opportunity to learn from scholars who, while winning coveted prizes for their studies, know the importance and value of teaching future leaders.
