The Assistant Director for Research Compliance will be responsible for the following:

- Providing support for operational and administration processes, including research compliance monitoring, consent and protocol oversight, consultation with investigators, related data entry with analysis and reports of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care, and Use Committee (IACUC) activities.

- Ensuring that the institution’s Financial Conflict of Interest policy is followed and implemented and that all documents and training are tracked.

- Being the point of contact for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program, coordinating training modules, educating researchers on access and completion of training modules, and tracking the training for the IRB and IACUC committees.

- Developing, updating, and implementing internal procedures, practices, and working with the chairs of the committees to ensure that our policies and procedures remain compliant and in line with federal regulations.

- Overseeing the administration and operation of our electronic system for IRB, as well as training for users of this electronic system.

- Assisting with compliance-related data collection and reporting as well as development of management solutions for compliance reporting needs.

- Monitoring and updating the OSPR websites for accurate research compliance components.

- Interacting with various GSU senior administration officials, deans, program chairs, principal investigators, other offices, and external sponsors.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

2. Additional knowledge, education, training and/or sponsored project experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.

• Two (2) years of professional level work experience in managerial and/or business experience, including two (2) years in a position related to academic research with human subjects.

• Successful experience in project management, administration, and database management.

• Demonstrated exemplary customer service and public relation skills, diplomacy and tact working with faculty, students, staff and the general public.

• CIP (Certified IRB Professional) or CIM (Certified IRB Manager) or able to obtain within one year of employment with support from the University.

3. Proficient using Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management from an accredited institution.

2. Five years of experience in a position related to academic research with human subjects.

3. CIP (Certified IRB Professional) or CIM (Certified IRB Manager).
