General Summary A hiring manager for the department of Event Management Dining and hospitality is a highly demanding job, with excellent opportunities for learning and growth. This position will work directly with the Student Hiring and Training Administrator to ensure all the EMDH locations are staffed appropriately. This position conducts interviews, orientations, hiring, terminations, tracking of and issuing student discipline, and maintains student employee files.

Required Qualifications - Ability to produce two letters of recommendation. (these letters must be attached to this application in the "writing samples" section.)

- Understanding of and willingness to enforce EMDH mission, vision, goals, policies and procedures.

- Not have any serious discipline within the current semester.

- Ability and willingness to work during summer break (June and July).

- Demonstrate a service-minded, approachable, friendly, enthusiastic attitude and inclusive appreciation of all student workers.

- Ability and willingness to learn, take constructive feedback, apply it to work, and participate in a team environment.

- Ability to work as a student hiring manager for no less than 4 full semesters or two full academic years upon hire.

If this position is Security Sensitive or if you are subject to a criminal background investigation based on University policy, then employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. You may not begin work until the criminal background investigation results have been received and cleared by Human Resources.

In addition, all appointments are contingent upon proof of eligibility for employment at Illinois State University to perform the required duties described above on your scheduled start date. The Immigration and Control Act of 1986, Public Law 99-603, requires all new employees to file an I-9 in person and no later than three days from the beginning of employment. This may be accomplished within the department or through Human Resources. Failure to comply with this law will result in cancellation of your appointment.

Desired Qualifications: - Human Resources, Accounting, Communications, or Business major preferred, though all majors will be considered.

- Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

- Enrolled in or successful completion of ACC 263 - Accounting Information Systems

- Be able to provide a history of demonstrating professional integrity, dependability, and adaptability.

- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work independently.

- Ability to demonstrate planning, organization, and record keeping accuracy.
