The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic-clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
The successful candidate will be accomplished in the area of Pathology. Applicants must have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care, education and administration. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The preferred candidate must be board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) seeks a distinguished Pathologist for the position of Chair of Pathology at its Pennsylvania Hospital site. Pennsylvania Hospital has a long history of excellence in Pathology both clinically and through its educational mission, and is part of the Department of Pathology at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. The Chair of Pathology at Pennsylvania Hospital will be expected to manage excellent clinical programs locally as well as from a system perspective; provide leadership within the Department; work collaboratively across the organization in both its clinical mission as well as train medical students, residents, and fellows; oversee the director of the residency (8 positions) and fellowship programs (2 positions); and advance the clinical research mission of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and the Perelman School of Medicine.
The department serves a 475 bed hospital with 4 other residency programs, and currently has 7 faculty, 11 trainees, a School of Medical Laboratory Science, and 100+ staff. There are 16,000 surgical and 4,000+ cytology specimens per year, and active Tumor Boards in 7 major cancer sites.
We are seeking an outstanding individual who has an established reputation for clinical innovation and academic excellence, as well as leadership qualities and administrative skills to lead a Department.
