Basic Function

Maintain the Biology Laboratory facilities, and carry out all laboratory preparatory and support functions for the following courses:
Introduction to Microbiology, General Microbiology, Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II, General Genetics, Biotechnology. Assist as needed with laboratory preparatory and support functions for the following courses: General Biology I & II, Botany and Zoology.

Duties and Responsibilities

•Ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment.
•Preparing all laboratory materials where necessary, and carrying out timely set-up and take down of all laboratories, and exams (or other assessments).
•Communicating with instructors, and printing all the relevant course material. •Supporting curricular development in collaboration with course instructors. •Ensuring all safety and environment health and safety procedures are followed, and all related compliance is maintained. •Supervising part-time laboratory employees or interns when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Biology, Microbiology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience/training.

Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Biology Laboratory Experience in a higher education setting.

Previous supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Laboratory skills in Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology, and General Chemistry.
•Content knowledge of Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, General Biology.
•Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
•Ability to work both independently and cooperatively.
•Ability to maintain safety procedures in the lab.
