The Rensselaer at Hartford campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Hartford, CT, invites applications for a non-tenure track position as Professor of Practice in the broad areas of Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Quality and/or Supply Chain Analytics. The position may begin as early as April 2019.The initial appointment is for two years and may be renewed, contingent upon funding, performance, and the needs of the program.


The successful candidate will be an active practitioner in the field(s). The incumbent will assist in developing and teaching two to three courses over the calendar year, using primarily hybrid and low-residency methodologies in systems and mechanical engineering programs. Teaching responsibilities will be at the graduate level in programs specifically designed for working professionals. It is expected that the incumbent will continue in their professional commitments in the field.


Candidates must have at least a Master’s or foreign degree equivalent in the systems or production management fields, and 10-15 years of substantive professional experience in the described fields. A Ph.D. is preferred. Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the collegiate level is preferred. Appointment will be made as Professor of Practice.
