Job Description Summary

This is a full-time tenure track position in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science, with a proposed start in Fall 2019. The position is for an Assistant Professor in the area of physical chemistry.
The successful candidates are expected to develop vigorous, creative, externally funded research program, and have expertise that complements that of current faculty and builds on departmental strengths in the broadly defined materials/colloids/nanoscience/biotechnology areas. Funding, scholarship, teaching and service should be at a level comparable to current junior faculty in the Department. External funding should be sufficient to support graduate students, postdoctoral students, etc., as needed to support the research effort.
Teaching will be largely in the area of physical chemistry, and support of the department’s undergraduate programs in Chemistry and Biomolecular Science as well as the graduate M.S. and Ph.D. programs. It would most likely include one undergraduate course and one advanced (graduate) chemistry course per year for the first 2 years, then revert to two undergraduate courses and one advanced (graduate) chemistry course per year thereafter. Teaching would also include mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students in the research environment
The candidate is expected to actively participate on Departmental, school and University committees. The candidate is expected to be a leader in his/her professional community, organizing symposia, reviewing manuscripts and research proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. with outstanding research potential.

Preferred Qualifications

Postdoctoral research experience.
