Major Duties and Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•Teach one or more of the following courses:
1.ARTC 100 – Fundamentals of Graphic Design
2.ARTC 120 – Print Design and Advertising
3.ARTC 140 – Vector Design and Illustration
4.ARTC 160 – Typography
5.ARTC 210 – Corporate Identity and Branding
6.ARTC 220 – Creative Design and Compositing
7.ARTC 290 – Portfolio

•Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methods, and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions

•Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities and College, division, and department policies

•Late afternoon and/or evening assignments may be required as part of the regular contract

Required Qualifications

A.The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:

1.Any bachelor’s degree or equivalent foreign degree AND two years of professional experience; OR

2.Any associate’s degree or equivalent foreign degree AND six years of professional experience; OR

3.California Community College credential authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline; OR

B.Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students; AND

C.Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS
•2 years or more of experience teaching at an accredited college or university.
•Experience using and troubleshooting Macintosh computers and Adobe CC software.
•Experience in Web Design.
•Experience with Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects.

Knowledge of:
•Principles and elements of design
•Gestalt principles of design
•Color theory
•Industry history and design trends
•Print, web and mobile design
•Creative processes, concept development and ideation
•Current technology, methodologies and marketing channels

Skills and Abilities:
•Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
•Proficiency in use of typography

License(s) & Other Requirements

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Employees may periodically be required to operate a vehicle that necessitates possession of a valid California driver’s license. Such employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver’s license.
