Job Summary/Description

Angelo State University seeks a Dean of Arts and Humanities. The Dean is responsible for the operation of the College of Arts and Humanities and reports to the Provost/Vice-President for Academic Affairs. This College includes the departments of Communication and Mass Media, English and Modern Languages, History, Political Science and Philosophy, Security Studies and Criminal Justice, and Visual and Performing Arts. The Dean will provide leadership to the College by developing current and future programs, increasing graduate and undergraduate student enrollment both on campus and through off campus partnerships, and providing effective management of faculty and staff. In addition, the Dean must cultivate strong alumni and community relationships, create and implement a viable strategic plan to build the College's reputation as a strong academic center in the region that is in line with the University's goals, work collaboratively with other Texas Tech University System campuses to create innovative initiatives, certifications and degree programs, and oversee all appropriate assessment and accreditation standards, including any departmentally specific or specialized accreditations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience in higher education leadership roles

Documented experience with budgetary and personnel management.

Experience with distance learning in higher education.

Evidence of strategic planning, program evaluation, and faculty development initiatives.

Commitment to the values of shared governance and diversity.

Minimum Qualifications

An earned terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution in a department within the College of Arts and Humanities.

Qualification as a tenured associate or full professor in a department within the College of Arts and Humanities.
