The Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology, https://www.uab.edu/medicine/cdib/ at the University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks highly-qualified applicants applications for a position of Assistant Professor, non-tenure earning. This is a faculty level position focusing, almost exclusively, on the research mission of UAB.  All candidates are expected to be highly motivated, with excellent communication and writing skills and to be able to perform independent research utilizing models of cancer, and in the role of the microbiome in cancer. The successful applicant will join a vibrant, cohesive, and diverse research environment and will benefit from an established career mentoring program. The Department also plays a leadership role in a number of cutting-edge core facilities (e.g., High Resolution Imaging Facility, Core Muscle Research Laboratory) and interdisciplinary research centers (e.g., UAB Center for Exercise Medicine, Comprehensive Neuroscience Center) that facilitate research acceleration and mentoring for faculty and trainees.

 

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (or similar doctorate degree) and have a demonstrated record of scholarly activity with preference given to candidates utilizing state-of-the-art approaches that complement existing expertise within the department.  In addition, all candidates must have at least five years of experience working with mouse models of cancer and should have experience in microbiology, flow cytometry, and signal transduction.
