Portland Community College is accepting applications for a Full-Time Instructor in the Medical Assisting (MA) Program. PCC's MA Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) and prepares students for certification through the CMA (AAMA) national exam. The program is a recognized leader in preparing Medical Assistants for the changing landscape of healthcare and features a curriculum emphasizing the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model. We are looking for an instructor who has strong current content knowledge and experience, who can balance academic rigor with practical application, and is committed to equitable student success.

This position will be responsible for teaching the Medical Assisting program's didactic and clinical procedure courses as well as ongoing curriculum development in collaboration with other program faculty and staff.

Courses will be primarily in the evenings at PCC's Cascade Campus in N. Portland, though responsibilities may extend to other times and campuses.

Candidate Profile
These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.
Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications. In your cover letter, please clearly address your experience with the following 4 success criteria for the position.

1. Three years of recent experience working in primary care or internal medicine
2. Experience in education or training of clinical providers of primary care
3. At least one year of supervisory or healthcare administration experience
4. Experience with, or strong knowledge of, the PCMH model

Minimum Qualifications To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked). Associate degree or higher and Certified Medical Assistant credentialed through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA),
OR
Registered Medical Assistant through the American Medical Technologists and Three years experience working as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting

Degree must be from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications Classroom teaching experience
Salary:
Initial Salary Placement up to Step 3 ($56,274) will be based on related experience, per PCC's collective bargaining agreement.

PCC Benefits:

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waver for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.

*Please note: Temporary Full-Time Faculty are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.

Paid Leave:
- 1 day of sick leave for every 18 days worked (~10 days/year)
- 21 hours of additional personal leave per year
- 4 paid holidays (which occur during the term you are teaching)
