Vice President - Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
The University of Utah seeks an outstanding diversity leader to serve as its inaugural Vice President - Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (VPEDI).
The University of Utah is the flagship institution of the Utah System of Higher Education. The University is the oldest university and largest public university in the state, enrolling almost 33,000 graduate and undergraduate students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. The University has the only School of Medicine in the state and its University Hospital is the finest medical-care facility in the Intermountain West.
Reporting to President Ruth V. Watkins, the VPEDI will foster the President's vision of "One University" by leading and overseeing the Office for Equity & Diversity. The work of the Office for Equity & Diversity is far-reaching, encompasses the academic and health sciences campuses and supports a wide range of social identities (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation), focal groups (e.g., students, faculty and staff), and core areas applicable across focal groups and social identities (e.g., recruitment and retention, campus climate, curriculum and instruction).
The VPEDI will provide senior administrative leadership for strategic planning and implementation of mission-driven institutional diversity efforts at the University of Utah. This position will be part of a team-leading diversity, equity and inclusion efforts across campus including all University of Utah stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be highly experienced as a senior-level diversity officer with experience in higher education and demonstrated a track record of successfully engaging with faculty, staff, students and the community on issues of equity, diversity and inclusion. Candidates with a terminal degree will be at marked advantage, including candidates with scholarly credentials that would merit a faculty appointment in one of the university's colleges or schools.
