John A. Logan College is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (DMS) program to begin summer 2019.

Faculty are covered under a 9-month contract period (August through May) and are required to teach a minimum of 15 credit hours and serve eight office hours per week for student consultation in fall and spring semesters. Additional teaching opportunities with compensation may be available in the summer semester. 

Position Description and Duties: The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program is part of the College’s Career and Technical Education division and leads to an Associate in Applied Science Degree. Responsibilities and duties of the program include: teaching online and face-to-face classes, labs, and clinical; developing curriculum; maintaining student records and instructional lab equipment; conducting program review; coordinating all accreditation activities as required by CAAHEP and JRC-DMS including annual reports and self-study with site visit every 5 years; preparing program budget; communicating with the medical director, clinical preceptors, hospital department directors, advisory members, prospective students, current students and graduates; chairing advisory committee meetings; serving as academic advisor to DMS students; assisting in the hiring of term faculty for the program.

Instructional responsibilities also include: continued course development to maintain program currency, participation in assessment of student outcomes, conducting program review, and development of instructional resources, including those for online learning. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to post and maintain office hours, engage in professional development, recruit students, and participate fully in departmental duties, institutional committees, and activities as assigned. The candidate is also expected to represent the College credibly with respect to any of its activities, and observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies, and programs of the College.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in workforce education or related field; associates degree in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography; 2 years of teaching experience in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography; 5 years of full-time work experience in Diagnostic Cardiac as a registered cardiac sonographer (RDCS or RCS); proficiency in the use of instructional technology to deliver online courses.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree, or degree in progress, in workforce education or related field; current sonography certifications in RVT, RDCS-FE, RDCS-PE, RDMS; supervisory or administrative experience in healthcare or education.
