The Geology Department at Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA seeks applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor starting in fall 2019. Courses taught by the successful candidate will include historical geology at the majors level, physical geology at the introductory level, and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. W&L and the Geology Department value excellence in scholarship, meaningful engagement in professional activities, sustainability, and the development of a campus climate that supports equality and diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. W&L is a nationally ranked, highly selective liberal arts college. The Department (geology.wlu.edu) has excellent facilities and resources, makes great use of the Appalachians in field courses and labs, and belongs to the Keck Geology Consortium.

Qualifications

PhD or ABD is required at the time of appointment. We seek a dynamic, creative teacher/scholar who is dedicated to diverse and inclusive teaching approaches and is enthusiastic about teaching intensive field-based geology courses.
