The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites applications for an adjunct teaching position in the Department of Science and Mathematics. The Department of Science and Mathematics seeks to develop students' scientific and mathematical literacy, as well as critical thinking abilities. Using a variety of instructional delivery methods and appropriate technologies, faculty provide students with the analytical skills needed to locate and evaluate technical, scientific, and quantitative information so that they may contribute to and succeed in the global society.



Job Description:


The Department of Science and Mathematics at F.I.T., S.U.N.Y. is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions to teach introductory and organic chemistry courses, including SC149 Introduction to Chemistry for Cosmetics and Fragrance and additional environmental chemistry course. The topics in Chemistry for Cosmetics and Fragrances will include the following; material analysis, microscopy, spectrometry and a basic introduction to organic and inorganic chemistry (topics will include the following; atomic structure, properties of aqueous solutions, intermolecular forces, colligative properties, polymers and basic chemical reactions).



Requirements:


Candidates should have an educational and employment background appropriate for teaching college level science courses. Candidates must have at least a Master's Degree, as well as thirty (30) additional and appropriate graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities and teaching experience. The requirement for the Master's Degree may be waived if the candidate is in a doctoral program in which the Master's Degree is not required, or if the proposed instructor has certification in a specific discipline.

The Fashion Institute of Technology is a State University of New York college of art and design located in New York City. In 1951, it became one of the first SUNY community colleges empowered to grant the Associate of Applied Science degree.
