The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), part of the State University of New York and an internationally renowned college of art, design, business and technology with a strong emphasis on liberal arts, invites applications for an adjunct teaching position in the Department of Science and Mathematics. The Department of Science and Mathematics seeks to develop students' scientific and mathematical literacy, as well as critical thinking abilities. Using a variety of instructional delivery methods and appropriate technologies, faculty provide students with the analytical skills needed to locate and evaluate technical, scientific, and quantitative information so that they may contribute to and succeed in the global society.

Job Description:

The Department of Science and Mathematics at F.I.T., S.U.N.Y. is recruiting a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions to teach an application based course in spectroscopy, SC032/332 Color Sciences lecture and/or laboratory. SC332/032 is an applications course examines the basic principles of color perception, color measurement, and color reproduction. Special emphasis is given to the physical basis of color: the relation between color and light, the interaction of light with matter, and the physics of light.

Requirements:

Candidates should have an educational and employment background appropriate for teaching college level science courses. Candidates must have at least a Master's Degree, as well as thirty (30) additional and appropriate graduate credits and/or evidence of scholarly achievement, professional activities and teaching experience. The requirement for the Master's Degree may be waived if the candidate is in a doctoral program in which the Master's Degree is not required, or if the proposed instructor has certification in a specific discipline.
