Click here for an example. The Harris Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will perform research in the field of immune regulation during CNS infection. The laboratory aims to elucidate the mechanisms by which regulatory T cells function in the CNS in order to limit immune-mediated pathology. The laboratory utilizes multiphoton microscopy, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, among other techniques to understand how immune cells function in immune-privileged tissues. The successful candidate will join the Center for Brain Immunology and Glia at the University of Virginia, which provides access to state-of-the-art microscopy and flow cytometry facilities.

Qualified candidates must have an M.D. and/or a Ph.D. in Immunology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, or a related field in hand by start date, and must have at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal. Extensive experience with flow cytometry (8 color or more) or confocal microscopy and a basic knowledge of cellular immunology techniques is required. The ability to work independently, yet also interact well with a diverse group of scientists and students is essential.
